Sportfishing
Driver will be waiting for you since 5:45am at the House in Antigua Guatemala to head to Marina "Pez Vela" for your day or days of fishing.
- Wear your fishing clothes
- Have a light breakfast
- You will fish out of Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala’s Pacific Port.
- The marina is 1 hour away from Antigua Guatemala.
THE FISHING DAY ROUTINE
Breakfast is served at 5:30am and the driver is ready to take you to the Marina promptly at 5:50am. Leave the dock at 7am and return to the dock at 5pm. If you are late, it will cut in to fishing time as the boat always returns at 5pm. If you prefer to have a flexible fishing scheduled, you can always tell your Captain when you are ready to go home, they will take lines out of the water and accommodate to your own fishing scheduled. If your arrival flight is quite late, you can tell your hostess that you will be leaving later than 7am, your Captain will make sure to give you enough hours of fishing throughout the rest of your fishing trip, if you booked more than 1 day of fishing, just make sure to communicate about it in advance, this is your trip and we will accommodate to please your scheduled.
There is a strong culture among the Sportfishing fleet to fish 7am-5pm. Two reasons, safety and second to establish a limit on time spent fishing since such high numbers of fish are caught. You will fish anywhere from 8 miles out to 50 miles out. Typically 20 odd miles……… You primarily fish for Sailfish, they range in size from 60 pounds to 150 pounds, most will be in the 75-100 pound range. Blue, Black and Striped Marlins are possible. It is likely you will catch a few Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) and may catch a few small Yellow-fin Tuna.
Driver will be waiting at the marina to take you back to Antigua Guatemala if you booked ground transfer with us or to the Villa at the Pacific Coast if you book the “Fish & Stay” Package. The routine will make you feel like ‘I’m 10 and at CAMP’!

You will stay at “Sailfish” or “Marlin” Villa at The Fishing Lodge called “Billfish Inn", both in a gated and guarded neighborhood, where you can go for a run, play basketball, volley-ball, go for a walk after each day of fishing. You will be safe and feel very safe. The Villa is next to the Philipps’s residence. We own the entire place. You will have your private non-sharing Villa.
Our lodging is private and very comfortable, located on a little mangrove lined channel. We do not mix groups so it is kept a unique and special experience from start to finish. Happy Hour is poolside, so swim trunks could be handy. Snacks and Dinner are brought by you. We will provide Breakfasts at 6:20am at the BILLFISH INN.
A great lunch will be prepared each day aboard the boat.

Quick and easy, drive yourselves to the Pacific Coast. Check in at your AirBnB Villa since 11am. You will have a light breakfast the next morning, check out and drive to "Marina Pez Vela", make sure to arrive at the dock 10 minutes before 7am. Your Boat will be ready for you. Your fishing day ends at 17hr00. After a great day of fishing, drive back home safely.
